Hello all, well, I see furthur mentioned on this ng 3 times today, and having
hung out with the father of furthur(say that fast 3x!!!) all weekend, it seems
time to get some info out. Bear with me, i am pretty computer illiterate, but I
have been petes friend for over 30 years, and because of him, you can all b&p
today !I wont bore you with the history, all that can be found at
sugarmegs.org...yes, hes sugarmegs too....Pete has been fiddling with music,
and the internet before any of us knew what the internet would become. He made
his first radio with rubberbands and plywood. no joke! Anyway live music has
been his passion. he has been compiling it for a long time. Any of you old
eastcoasters may remember My Fathers Place on long island, he was the sound
engineer for all those live broadcasts.   much of his archives had been on
sugarmegs and as time went on, and bandwidth became increasingly more difficult
to get, or afford, a new file sharing, and source for tradeable, and listenable
 live music was born. Furthurnet.com....now, there are shn and mp3's available
at furthur, and some of you youngens have been very vocal about your dislike of
mp3s....understood! But, Pete got a verbal reeming about having them out there 
on the chat of his own baby furthur this weekend.  ya gotta realize they are
here to stay, although not to burn. Don't get mad at pete, he's just trying to
get the music out there!  . but when your sitting at your computer, and want to
listen to great live music streaming or, when you cant get a b&p  of say vida
blue in 2 days, you can go have a listen even if it is an mp3...ok? Believe me,
he spends hours explaining the compression of the music and file sizes to me!
of course i just glaze over. He knows the good the bad and the ugly of it all.
Its time to give peter a" good job buddy" , go have a look at furthur, or
sugarmegs.org  for that matter. There are some great people behind furthur,
people who really care about music, and lets face it , thats why we are all
